The Ondo state government has earmarked N170 million naira for an initiative of the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu and her meetings with different groups in the state.
The initiative named Forum for Wives of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO) was launched on Thursday, 7th December 2017 in Akure with Mrs. Akeredolu as the initiator.
The figures seen by SUNSHINE HERALD during the week were contained in the 2018 budget details signed by Mr. Akeredolu on Tuesday, February 6.
The total budget passed by the house and signed into law is N181.42 billion.
The breakdown, which was published under Ondo State of Nigeria, estimates 2018, Special Programmes Details has N160 million earmarked for ‘FOWOSO Programme’.
How the money is expected to be spent on the programme was not detailed.
SUNSHINE HERALD recalled that Mrs. Akeredolu had during the launch highlighted some of the objectives of FOWOSO, noting that it would help in developing and executing programmes that would build capacity in young and old women in the state.
She explained that FOWOSO would stand for and create equal opportunity for women of the state to prepare them to take charge when called upon and stressed the need to urgently address low representation of women in the position of real authority and decision-making.
Also earmarked was another N10 million for ‘Meeting of Her Excellency with Women Groups’
