The caretaker chairman, Ese-Odo Local Government, Hon. Bekewe Olowu has donated a generating set to corps members serving in the local government .
The donation was to encourage diligence among the corps memebers.
The 5.5kVA generator was also to ameliorate the suffering of the corps members owing to the prolonged darkness communities in the area have been thrown into for months.
In his speech , Bekewe said “It is my responsibility to make sure that corps members in the local government are living comfortably and well taking care of so as to make good use of their service year by impacting meaningfully to the lives of the people in general.”
Bekewe also promised to always assist the corps members at every given time because of their vital roles to the development of the country most especially in the area of education and and community services.
The council Chairman admonished them to always be good ambassadors of the nation.
In his own remarks, the Director of Local Government Administration, Mr. Gbenga Olaniyi noted that the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has been able to integrate the people of Nigeria.
He urged the corps members to take their primary assignment very serious, and equally see the NYSC as opportunity to showcase their talents and potentials in their quest to becoming leaders of tomorrow.
“Always consider the interest of the nation first in every decision you take and avoid any social vices capable of jeopardizing your future,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the corps members, Head of Department, Social Development, Mr. Okungbure Ebun commended the chairman for his noble gestures which he said was unprecedented.
Receiving the generating set on behalf of the Corps members, the Corps Liason Officer, CLO, Miss Omaruaye Eunice appreciated the chairman for fulfilling his promise within the shortest period into his administration.
She stressed that “Our joy has no bound for this favour and assistance.
“We shall continue to give our best throughout the period of stay.”
She however promised to make good use of the generator in the overall interest of the Corps members serving in the LGA.
