APC Leaders in Akoko South East local government area of Ondo State under the Concerned Akoko South East Progressive Leaders, have called on the governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu not to reappoint the erstwhile caretaker chairman of the local government area due to incompetence and fraud while his appointment lasted in office.
The House of Assembly dissolved the caretaker committee members in all the 18 local government areas of the state last week after spending over a year in office.
In a press statement made available to journalists during the week, the group accused the immediate former Caretaker Chairman, Mr.Raymond Adeniyi in connivance with some leaders in the local government of sabotage and called on the governor to look into the activities of the former chairman who was shielded by some politicians in the party who were out to plunge the party into crisis.
According to the leader of the group, Hon. Kayode Festus, there were petitions written to the governor on the nefarious activities of the former caretaker chairman who allegedly enjoyed the support of leaders of the party from Isua township, Dr.Shaba and Hon. Akin Aibinuomo. But the petitions could not see the light of the day as the said leaders boasted that the governor could not act on such petitions.
In a related development, a group in the local government, Isua Youth Action for Development in a press statement made available to journalists last year condemned the activities of the former caretaker chairman whom they alleged of negligence of duty and total neglect of party’s activities in the local government.
He was also alleged of misappropriation of funds allocated to the local government for the purchase of food stuffs for party members during the festive season.
The 42 party leaders including four supervisors who signed the petition sent to the governor of the state, Arakunrin Akeredolu called for urgent intervention into the activities of some of the leaders and the former chairman before it degenerates into crisis.
“We have resolved to petition the governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu once again because there are issues to be resolved in our local government which requires urgent attention before it blows out of proportion. The last time we wrote him, we did not get feedback because some of the leaders boasted that they would always have their way, and we are determined to fight this cause to victory.
The former caretaker chairman of Akoko South East, Hon. Adeniyi Raymond is not fit to man the affairs of the council and we will resist any attempt to force him on us,” the petition read in part.
The leaders who also eulogised the governor for his developmental strides in office, pledged their support for the success of the APC administration in the state.
The group said if nothing was done to prevent Adeniyi Raymond from returning to office as caretaker chairman of the council, the APC in the local government would be put into crisis before the 2019 elections, as the leaders and youths have resolved to check such activities.
