Following the event that claimed the lives of three soldiers in Ajakpa, Ese Odo local Government Area of Ondo state, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Thursday donated cash compensation to families of the slain soldiers.
According to a report by Tribune, the donation was announced by the Governor during his visit to the commanding officer of the 19 battalion of the Nigerian Army in Okitipupa.
Governor Akeredolu who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Jimo Dojumo, expressed the state government’s readiness to support and assist the milliary and other security bodies in the state.
Responding, the Commanding Officer of the 19 Battalion , Lt-Col Mohammed Maaji, applauded the Governor for showing concerns and sympathy for their loss.
It was also reported that the Governor gave out a sum of N250,000 to the soldiers that sustained bullet wounds and N500,000 each to the families of the three who lost their lives during the combat.
It will be recalled that SUNSHINE HERALD earlier reported the horrible event that took place where three soldiers lost their lives, with many others seriously injured during a gun duel between the troops of the Nigerian Army and the dreaded militants at Ajakpa community in Ondo State.
The government also assured of the efforts with security agencies to restore peace and ensure maximum security across state.
