The Students’ Union of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, AAUA has called for an emergency congress by students of the institution to discuss the news fees proposed by the state government.
In a statement jointly signed by the Student Union President, Olawale Ijanusi, Secretary, Adekunle Ayo-Lawrence and PRO, Samson Adelowo, they said the congress is scheduled for Monday April 16, 2018 by 8:00am.
‘The emergency congress will hold at the university’s Relaxation Centre, RC.’
SUNSHINE HERALD had earlier reported that the state government reduced the initial figures released as AAUA’s school fees.
The review in the new fees according to a statement by the union are as follows:
Faculty of Law: #100,000
Faculty of Science: #100,000
Faculty of Social and Management Science: #100,000
Faculty of Education: #80,000
Faculty of Art: #80,000
With an option to pay twice I.e #50,000 and #40,000 per semester respectively.
“Final Year students across all faculties are to pay a sum of #70,000 with an opinion of paying twice I.e #35,000 per semester.”
However, Kunle Arosoye, Director of Campus Affairs National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS while speaking with our reporter said no agreement was reached between the government and the student leaders on the new fees.
